Feeling the urge to jazz up your home, but don’t want to spend a lot of money or put in a ton of effort? Try these easy DIY renovations. (many of which are rental-friendly, too!)

Change up kitchen storage

Visually, cabinets make up a large part of the kitchen, so giving them a makeover can add a ‘wow’ factor. You could do this in a few different ways—if they’re in good shape, you could resurface and repaint them, or you could choose to remove some cabinets entirely to make space for floating shelves in order to display dishware. Simply replacing the handles or knobs on cabinets and drawers can make a big difference in the overall look of your kitchen.

Make organized living easier

A well-organized home not only looks more appealing but makes your life easier as well. Add hooks, shoe racks, and cubbies or baskets to the entryway, maximize bedroom closet space with shelves and bins, rethink (and restock) the laundry space, and use pegboards to tidy up tools and sports equipment in the garage.

Switch up the lighting

Ambience really makes a difference at home. Simply switching out bulbs to softer lighting, adding a cool new light fixture to the living room, dining room, or bedroom, or setting the mood with table and standing lamps can completely change the look and feel of a home with minimal effort.

Try a new backsplash or wallpaper pattern

Updating the kitchen backsplash or adding an accent wall in a room doesn’t have to be a major undertaking anymore. Peel-and-stick backsplash tiles, wallpaper, and decals can give new life to an old space, without too much of a time or financial commitment.

Swap out the old for new

There are tons of smaller items around the house that you can swap out quickly. New faucets and a showerheads, curtains or window shades, rugs, and mirrors can all help give your home an instant upgrade.
