Candles & Cake was inspired by the US based Birthday Party Project ™. They’ve been spreading joy in the US since 2012. Moved by the kindness, Girls Gone Local is bringing the idea to a shelter in Toronto Canada. For families living in shelters, often life’s celebratory moments, like birthdays are pushed to the wayside. For one afternoon, Girls Gone Local will throw a really fun party, that’s all about the kids. We’ll give parents a break and time to focus on getting back on their feet. Candles & Cake treats kids to the party they really want. Every month, Girls Gone Local and The Red Door Shelter will host a great party (prep, planning and execution) to celebrate all the children in the shelter born that month. We expect between 30 to 80 women and children aged 4 to 13.
We were happy to support Candles & Cake. This Girls Gone Local Initiative in partnership with The Red Door Shelter,  hosts birthday parties with games and goodies, for kids living in shelters.
