It almost makes me feel happy about the showers that came with the first of May, and hopefully the flurries are gone for good.
With the nicer weather and longer days, it is the perfect time to focus our attention on the outside of our houses. It is exciting to see the crocuses’ popping through all the dried-up old leaves and bringing the promise of life to our gardens again.
I am so thrilled to see the beautiful bright colours and patterns in stores, and of course, I am always anxious to drag out the patio furniture and get it all set up. Once the outdoor urns are filled, and the furniture is out, I know spring has truly arrived.
To further welcome spring to your favourite outdoor space, try one of many ways to add a pop of colour.
One of the easiest ways to add colour is with paint. Don’t be afraid to give new life to your old patio furniture with a fresh coat of paint. You can also try painting a background wall a beautiful, eye-catching colour. You can also add colourful flower pots, and I think the best way to make your space pop is to add an outdoor rug in a bold pattern or bright array of colour.
If your cushions are removable and the labels say you can machine wash them, you can always give them a fresh start with a wash through the gentle cycle of your machine. I put them back on the foam to dry to the right shape. If you are unsure, warm water and a tablespoon of Borax and gentle dish soap will also do the trick. Spray it on and leave it for 10-15 minutes and then rinse it off. Your cushions will be fresh and ready for another season.
