May has arrived and Mother’s Day is right around the bend. Need some fresh ideas for how to treat your mom or a special woman in your life this year? Here are several local activities you can do together – because quality time is the best gift of all.

1. Brunch at Mira Mira diner

Indulge mom with a special Mother’s Day menu at Mira Mira. From truffled deviled eggs to deluxe buttermilk pancakes with strawberry rhubarb compote, it’s sure to be a memorable meal – but make a reservation ahead of time to secure your spot.

2. Photoshoot at the beach

It’s one thing to share a memorable experience—it’s another to capture those memories so mom can treasure them for years to come. Consider hiring a local photographer (or set up the tripod and a phone yourself) and gather the family for a picturesque photoshoot at the beach.

3. Go hiking at Rouge Valley or Biking at the Beach

We’re lucky to have the Rouge Valley’s many trails and the longest bike trail in Canada right on our doorstep. Take mom on a leisurely (or more active) hike or bike, and don’t forget to pack snacks and beverages for scenic stops along the way—or you can even prepare a picnic.

4. Paint & Sip at the Selfie Studio

Bottomless sangria and an artistic endeavour? Sounds like the perfect afternoon event for celebrating mom. Tickets can be purchased here.

5. Go see a movie at The Fox

Check out the Fox, a local institution, for hours of movie entertainment. Take mom to High Tea Cinema: A Room with a View (scone and a cup of tea included), or a screening of David Cronenberg’s The Brood as part of their themed ‘Bad Mommies in Cinema’ month.

6. Pamper yourselves at Hand & Stone Spa

What mom doesn’t deserve to be pampered? Get in on the rest and relaxation and book a luxurious hot stone or Himilayan stone massage, or a facial, at Hand & Stone Spa

7. Cheers to mom at a cocktail bar

Raise a fancy cocktail (or two) to mom this year to say thanks. Try The Beech Tree, or lakeside drinks at the Toronto Beach Club.
