Reasons 1, 2, 3, and 4: So Many Beautiful Beaches!

Reasons one, two, three, and four to move to the East End are simple. That’s where the best beaches are! If you love the water, here are four fantastic destinations that might inspire you to pack up and move to one of our favourite neighbourhoods.

All of these beautiful waterfronts are soft and sandy, making them perfect for swimming or just relaxing by the shore. Living in Toronto East, you could get off work at 5, enjoy a refreshing splash and be home before dark!

If that’s not enough, you will also love your location along the vast Martin Goodman Trail. This 56-km stretch runs right along the water, is extremely cycling and pedestrian friendly, and plenty of bike parking is always available.

An honourable mention goes out to Bluffer’s Park in Scarborough. Though not technically in the East End, the park is worth visiting for its breathtaking white cliffs!

Reason 5: Green Spaces and Scenery Galore

We will be the first to admit that Toronto’s East End does not have a monopoly on nature. This bustling city of more than 3 million people has at least 1,500 parks to enjoy!

In the unlikely event you get tired of all of the glorious scenery at the beach, you can easily switch things up and spend time in one of our picturesque, postcard-worthy parks instead!

Tommy Thompson Park

Tommy Thompson Park is located on a human-made peninsula that extends into Lake Ontario. Although it was originally intended as a port facility, it has since evolved into a gorgeous wilderness oasis, alternatively known as a birdwatcher’s paradise.

If you’ve got a passion for our feathered friends, be sure to keep an eye out; this globally recognized bird sanctuary is a stopover site for more than 300 species.

It’s also a popular spot for all those outdoor activities that make exercise fun, such as hiking, roller-blading and cycling. In the winter, you will find many visitors bundled up for an afternoon of snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.

Kew Gardens

Kew Gardens is another favourite for local residents. A giant gazebo in the middle of the park provides some shade and even more fantastic photo opportunities.

A paved path makes it easy to admire beautiful gardens, trees and foliage, including magnolias. There’s even a playground for children and a leash-free dog zone, making this a fun spot everyone can enjoy. Best of all, the park leads right to the boardwalk and the beach.

Glen Stewart Ravine

If you really want to lose yourself in nature, Glen Stewart Ravine is a peaceful, lush forest right in the heart of the East End.

An elevated wooden boardwalk provides an outstanding vantage point, allowing you to explore without disrupting the delicate ecosystem. This is sure to quickly become one of your favourite hiking trails!
