Music has a unique ability to go beyond borders and inspire us to feel and connect in ways that words alone simply can’t express. Music stirs emotions, ignites memories, and unites people from all walks of life. At DeClute, we believe in celebrating the arts and creativity of our neighbourhood, and so, to honour the 35th Annual Beaches Jazz Fest, we are thrilled to announce a unique contest inviting community members to design our next Beach Sign. Submissions must be received by June 9, 2023, allowing our artists ample time to bring your idea to life. All entries should include a visual representation of the proposed installation and a brief description highlighting the inspiration behind the piece. We invite you to consider the impact of music on individuals, our community, and the world at large.

Once the submission period ends, the public will have the opportunity to vote for their favourite design. From June 10th to June 16th, we will display the entries here on our website and on our socials, so make sure you’re following us to cast a vote for your favourite. Don’t forget to have your friends and family vote, as well! The winner will be announced on June 16th.

The winning design, along with information about the contest winner and their inspiration, will be installed on our busy corner of Beech Ave. and Queen St. East for the duration of The Beaches Jazz Fest, July 6-July 30. Visitors and passersby will be able to enjoy the artist’s creation, take selfies and share firsthand the powerful connection between music and visual art.

As a token of appreciation, the winning artist will also receive two VIP tickets to our exclusive Jazz Fest party on July 29th.

Mark your calendars and visit The Beach sign on the patio outside our office, July 6-July 30, to witness the winning installation in all its glory. Together, let us celebrate the harmonies of art and music and honour the transformative power they hold.
