New year, new look for your home? If you’re designing and renovating with an eye on selling in the future, here are some of the top interior design trends for 2025 to incorporate that could boost your resale value.

Extended kitchens

“This kitchen is too big,” said no one, ever. Buyers in 2025 are being wowed by expansive kitchens with extra storage and prep space for effortless hosting at home: think hidden pantries, multiple islands, and smart storage.

Wood and warmth

The stark white minimalism that’s been popular as of late could be on its way out. Therefore, buyers are increasingly drawn to inviting spaces that make them feel instantly at home. Natural wood features and accents (including kitchen cabinetry) combined with a neutral colour scheme creates a welcoming feel—just take note of Pantone’s colour of the year as an example of a warm tone.

Space separation

While open-concept homes have dominated for years, there’s a noticeable shift toward more defined spaces, once again. Large archways connecting living and dining rooms, cozy alcoves, and enclosed entryways are popping up to give families a little more balance between open spaces and intimate functional spaces in the home.

Texture

Leaning towards maximalism in 2025, buyers want to be intrigued when they walk into a home. Adding texture—such as concrete floors, wood panelling, crown moulding, plastered ceilings, and bold tiling—adds interest.

Bathrooms that feel like spas

Health and wellness are top priorities for many people these days, making at-home spas a coveted feature. Add a soaker tub, steam room, or sauna to provide convenient access to some R&R. Additionally, ambient lighting and a serene colour palette add to a Zen-like atmosphere.
