Reach Out Today Reach Out Today
As we approach the holiday season, it’s safe to say that 2020 will be one that is nothing like we have ever experienced. It is a season that is typically bursting with frenzied time crunches, social gatherings, way too much baking, sharing and eating, so much hustle from store to store, too much gifting and never enough time to gather with family and friends. This year, we are in a lockdown. There will be few if any gatherings, little stress with frenzied social schedules and not much hustling.
We do however have enough time for reflection, for reset and to reach out to our family and friends. I cannot count the number of times I have heard the words restart, reset and reflection since March. I have embraced these words and some days I may have even chanted them as though they were my personal mantra.
I am grateful to have the opportunity to pause, reflect and recharge. We have pivoted and reimagined the way our day to day looks. Although in real estate we have had our busiest and surprisingly most successful year, the ever familiar and predictable routine is gone. We have found a new way to continue to safely and successfully enhance our services and to sell houses, many of us are working mostly from home. Who would have thought that a global pandemic would drive an already heated real estate market to burst into flames. In the midst of adding plexiglass, hand sanitizer, touchless soap and masks we have also implemented new cleaning and showing protocols. Virtual meetings and showings have become common place. Our flip books have replaced brochures and online open houses are now comfortable practice. We have had an opportunity to learn a new and better way of serving our clients.
I am grateful that we have been able to elevate our service. We have had the opportunity to guide our clients virtually as well as in person through the real estate buying and selling process in the midst of ever changing rules, regulations and safety protocols. We are taking all the precautions necessary to keep our clients, community and our staff safe and healthy while having a record year in real estate sales. We are fortunate.
As the holidays approach I am aware that a strong sense of community has replaced the stress of the season. We are connected with our neighbours and our community in a way like never before. As a local family owned and operated business we understand the impact that this pandemic has had on so many businesses in our community. We are concerned for our neighbours who have had to close their doors yet again to keep us safe. Together we can focus on supporting our community and our locally owned businesses and again I am grateful for the people who live in our amazing East End community. I am especially grateful for the time to reflect and appreciate how fortunate we are.
As things continue to evolve during this pandemic our office has come together and made a promise to support local and to connect even more with our community. We will all shop local. We’ll continue to support local charities and our local, community hospital network. We have made a commitment to be there to support our clients, our staff and our community and in doing this we will take all measures to keep everyone safe. Although we are not getting dressed up and gathering, we have made the commitment to care and to be there.
In times of change and times of stress we have a unique opportunity to learn and to accept that things are not perfect and this is not only okay, it is often good. The pressure to strive for perfection has been replaced with the ability to accept that often change can mean progress and we all progress at a different pace. With this COVID-19 virus, I fully expect that here will be hiccups and there will be more change and more opportunity to pivot and to learn. I am grateful to be learning to be patient to accept that things are not perfect in this crazy 2020 year. I am so grateful for the opportunity to grow. We are committed to do our absolute best while keeping everyone safe and healthy.
In 2020 I am blown away and thankful for our incredible community. Thank you for supporting the many local family owned businesses, thank you for continuing to support OUR local family owned business. We will continue to shop locally and to support the initiatives in our community such as patio sponsorships the Michael Garron hospital, Community Centre 55, Dixon Hall, Fred Victor, Second Harvest. We are all looking forward to 2021 and to the light at the end of the tunnel.
