‘Tis the season! The holiday season holds a different meaning for each of us. For many of us it is a time to gather with family and friends and celebrate. For our brokerage it is a time to give back to our wonderful community and show our gratitude in many different ways. Our signature way to say  “Thank You” is by lighting up the Boardwalk. Each year we hang 80,000 individual LED lights in the majestic trees in hopes that it will brighten up the Boardwalk and kick off the holiday season. Each year the lights are a little different, this year we have a total of 15 trees lit from the Lifeguard Station at the foot of Leuty Ave to the foot of Fernwood Park Ave. After 11 years we have grown from a crowd of 50 people to light up the Boardwalk with us to a crowd of more than 2,000 people attending our kick off this year. Once again, we are asking for donations to support mental health and addiction services at the Michael Garron Hospital Foundation.

We leave the lights up until mid-February in hopes that it will draw people from all over the city to our beautiful waterfront community.

This month is also a time to support those people who live in our community and are in need the services of Dixon Hall and the Out Of The Cold program. For almost 15 years we have been preparing and serving meals to those who do not have a place to go to. It seems that each year the crowd is a little bigger. There are always many familiar faces and always a few new ones.

There are some of ways that we connect with and give back to our community. The holiday season is a time for us to rejoice and celebrate. Most importantly we celebrate the season with you, our clients and our family and friends. We wish you all Peace and Joy over the holidays!

DeClute Light Up The Beach was conceived as a way of making the Boardwalk and Beach more of a destination for local residents in the cold winter months. DeClute Real Estate dedicates an enormous amount of resources and hours every year carefully stringing Christmas lights as high as 65 feet above the Boardwalk through mature oak, maple and willow trees lining the shores of Lake Ontario. More than 80,000 individual LED bulbs on 20,000 linear feet of wire are hung every Fall and removed every Spring. Catch Santa as he rides along the Boardwalk and counts down to light each tree in sequence.Proceeds from the event will support addiction and mental health programs at Michael Garron Hospital, including state-of-the art adult and child/adolescent inpatient facilities in the new Ken and Marilyn Thomson Patient Care Centre, slated to open in 2021. Attendees will be encouraged to donate onsite and online.
