For many, a new year means a colour refresh at home. Experts have rolled out their selections for 2025’s Colour of the Year, and they range from soft, comfortable shades to bold hues. Will you choose any of these to paint your home or are there other interior design trends of 2025 you’re hoping to see?

Pantone

Pantone’s colour for the new year is all about connection, comfort, and harmony—which we could all use a little more of, right? Mocha Mousse, the colour institute’s choice for 2025, is a neutral yet warm tone that draws from coffee and chocolate. It’s inviting and elegant, making it perfect for living rooms and entryways.

Behr

If you’re looking for a bit more drama in 2025, Behr’s chosen colour Rumors is a statement-maker. This rich, burgundy-inspired colour is sophisticated and not for the faint of heart if you’re using it in your home. This merlot shade would work as a beautiful accent wall in a bedroom, or it could elevate a dining room.

Benjamin Moore

Interestingly, Benjamin Moore’s choice of colour for 2025 hits the mark right between Pantone and Behr’s selections. Cinnamon Slate is a more nuanced, softer option that bridges browns and purples— use it to freshen up living spaces, bathrooms, or kitchen cabinets if you’re looking for a neutral look that still pops.

Valspar

A rich and deep blue hue is Valspar’s colour of the year. Encore is sure to make a statement in any home, whether used as an accent or full-blown floor-to-ceiling commitment. It pairs well with more subtle shades of lavender and sage.

Sherwin-Williams

This paint brand has opted for a colour capsule rather than a singular shade for 2025. From Chartreuse to Raincloud to Mauve Finery, Sherwin-Williams’ slightly muted palette offers modern yet usable colours that pair well together for easy decision-making.
