Shelter

In the late fall of 2019, we were presented with a real estate opportunity we couldn’t resist. We had a chance to purchase the iconic “old bank building” more recently known as Wholesome Foods at the corner of Beech Ave and Queen Street. We are now located right next to the landmark Fox Theatre and directly across from the iconic GOOF restaurant.

Of course, we were excited to have a location where we could bring our two real estate teams together in one space. The building was originally built in the late 1800’s as the First Bank of England and later became the Bank of Montreal prior to becoming Wholesome Foods.

We soon discovered and uncovered beautiful architectural details in the building as we cleaned it up, including glorious plaster crown moldings buried deep beneath 4 sub-ceilings and although damaged we were able to restore them to their past glory. We wanted to restore vs renovate our new space and at the same time reduce our carbon footprint. We know how important the details are and we took our time, planning our space to continue welcome the community and connect with our clients.

Our move in date was scheduled for April 1st and of course we delayed due to the Covid-19 global pandemic. We are so happy to now be fully moved into our new space and have adjusted things to achieve safe distances for everyone when visiting our office. We are following strict guidelines and protocols as provided by healthcare professionals.

Sustainability

Both DeClute Real Estate and Wright Group have made the environment an essential part of our commitment to sustainability. That is why we are proud to be partnering with Bullfrog Power on green electricity for our new shared space at Union Realty at the corner of Beech Avenue and Queen Street.

Bullfrog Power’s producers put renewable electricity onto the grid to match the amount of conventional electricity used by DeClute Real Estate and Wright Sisters Group at Union Realty.  Across Canada, Bullfrog’s green electricity comes from a blend of wind and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities. Watch this How It Works video to learn more about Bullfrog’s renewable energy sources.

In addition to greening Canada’s energy systems, we’ll also be supporting community green energy projects through our partnership with Bullfrog Power. These projects include renewable initiatives with Indigenous Peoples, solar projects on schools and hockey rinks, and installations with renewable energy co-ops.

We are proud to be choosing green energy with Bullfrog Power! To learn more about Bullfrog Power, visit their website at bullfrogpower.com.

Shop Local

We have witnessed first-hand the effect that this virus and the resulting shut down is having on other local family owned businesses. We vigorously support local businesses just like ours.  As we saw the street traffic dwindling, we added an important last minute addition to our new home on the corner. We added a big bright sign! A sign that will hopefully draw people to the area and remind them of The Beach… or The Beaches — either way it is a really great place to be and to support.

  2. Brilliant! I love restoration vs renovation when possible, a nod to the past. And a nod to the future, nice to see Bullfrog incorporated. Well done!
